Product and Solution Development is looking for a Marine Field Test Engineer. Here is a great opportunity for you who would like to develop yourself and our marine field test team at Volvo Penta. You will have an important role in the marine field test team but also to be an important player in enabling Volvo Penta’s fast-moving transformation to become future proof in sustainable power solutions.
Our employees describe Volvo Penta as a great place to work, built upon respect and commitment. We encourage people to take individual responsibility and offer exciting assignments in a highly innovative environment. We strongly believe that high performance comes from having fun at work, and the courage to think outside the box. It is our people that make the difference!
This is how you will impact the future for Volvo Penta!
Field Testing is the last step in the verification and validation chain of our future products. This is the first time the newly developed products are put in real life operation together with selected customers. As a marine field test engineer, you will lead the preparation of upcoming field tests and together with the projects, shipyards and customers, make sure the installation of our testing equipment will be carried out and started up. You will follow up ongoing field tests including planning maintenance and updates, perform trainings and report and solve problems. By this we will make sure we get the best possible verification and validation out in the field and to get the highest possible quality on our products.
This is You
As you will be Penta’s face towards the field test customers, we believe that you have an
outgoing personality. As a person you are also structured and well organized. You enjoy
working in teams and have the ability to work with several parallel tasks and functions, such as
projects, customers, OEM´s, workshops etc. However, the most important quality for a marine
field test engineer is to have good communication skills, an interest in the marine sector and the
ability to keep up a high energy level and work together with the team. You will work with
projects where it is important to understand the requirements but also important to present the
end customers’ point of view towards the project. Volvo Penta operates on a seemingly flat
organizational structure where own initiative is important and highly requested.
Further on, we see that you have experience of diesel engine development or engine
development testing or experience of field testing activities. You probably also have a degree in
mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent education. You will be working in a
global environment but you will also work with a lot of Swedish customers, therefor you should
be fluent in both English and Swedish. In this position you will also have the great opportunity to
travel for work! So, a valid driver’s license will be needed.
Lastly, experience in the Marine business, commercial boat handling experience or similar is a strong qualifier.
