LE III Market Adviser
Trade & Investment Development Section of the British Embassy
Heavy Engineering
focus
To cover for parental leave within the section, you will be a part of a trade team within UK Trade & Investment, the UK government's organisation helping UK companies do business internationally and overseas enterprises seeking to invest in the UK. Our Market Advisers aim to increase the competitiveness of British goods in the Swedish market by keeping abreast of developments and reporting opportunities to the UK. They respond to enquiries from British companies and help them get into the Swedish market.
A Market Adviser is part of a sector team headed by a Senior Market Adviser. The team involved currently specialises in Heavy Engineering. The work involves:
. Providing support and assistance to the team's Senior Market Adviser.
. Market research and compiling sector related reports on behalf of British companies in the Heavy Engineering sectors.
. Undertaking special projects
. Visits to companies, trade fairs, trade associations and commercial organisations within Sweden and sometimes in UK.
. Advising local and British commercial visitors.
Essential Skills and Experience:
. Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently - taking responsibility under supervision.
. Excellent communication skills including good written and spoken English and Swedish.
. Excellent organisational skills and an ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines - often under pressure.
. Positive attitude, flexibility, an ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast moving working environment.
. Excellent networking and social skills. Aptitude for providing a customer driven service.
. Good IT skills.
Other relevant experience:
. Business/marketing experience in industry, preferably importing or exporting would be an advantage but not essential.
. A professional qualification and/or related work experience in a Heavy Engineering environment would add support to any application. The main sectors that this particular team covers include: Construction, Railways, DIY, Environmental Technologies and Energy, Heavy Engineering, Metals and Minerals, Forestry, Pulp and Paper, Packaging Machinery, Business and Consumer Services.
