Acne Studios is a Swedish-based, global fashion company that sells its products in more than 60 countries and operates over 50 stores across Europe, Asia, Australia and North America. The headquarters are located in Stockholm, and employs 200+ people. Acne Studios also has offices in Paris, New York and Shanghai.

Your role 

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Marketplaces Director will oversee the company’s global marketplaces business and run development and execution of partnership platform strategies. The Director will align the marketplaces agenda with the strategic initiatives of the Commercial organization.

This position will be responsible for managing the Acne Studios partnership strategies in areas of sales, merchandising, marketing, operations, supply chain and development/ implementation. The Director requires expertise in developing regionalized, strategic initiatives to expand the marketplaces footprint; to identify key growth areas and take corrective or enhancing actions in support of the Commercial agenda. This position will own both the commercial and operational performance of Acne Studios partnership flagships globally.

This role requires an analytical, data-driven and global approach to commercial partnerships, combined with a deep understanding of the luxury fashion customer’s needs and how they differ across regions and platforms. Diplomacy, analytical capabilities and a clear point of view are key success factors.

 This is a full-time position based at Acne Studios’ Stockholm office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



• Sales: Own the global sales and opex budgets from creation to execution

• Deliver performance, concept, campaign and sales analysis weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually, taking actions to ensure the budgets are achieved and sales and ops performance are optimized
• Deliver key insights to Controlling, Buying and Planning teams to transform the sales budgets into assortment and buy plans
• Develop reporting loop to Finance for monthly reconciliation of both sales and inventory


• Merchandising: Define and secure data-driven input to the buying team to ensure the buy strategy is executed with the platform partners

• Develop regional and channel-specific product distribution strategies and secure their implementation


• Marketing: Own the marketplaces performance marketing agenda and manage the marketing budget

• Define the marketplaces campaign and editorial calendars, and ensure activities are aligned across channels
• Possess a solid understanding of the marketplace customer’s behavior in key markets, and set long-term strategy and action plans to deliver on department strategy and goals 


• Commercial: With a growth mindset, prospect and develop partnership opportunities in the marketplaces landscape

• Be an expert in global marketplaces trends and development
• Competitive benchmarking of brand adjacencies and luxury market activities/ calendar
• Develop dedicated partner relationships: own the relationship to partners’ commercial, ops teams as well as with trade partners

• Run partner appointments during Market/ during sales campaigns


• Commercial: Run growth and optimization projects that enhance the Acne Studios client experience with our platform partners
• Commercial: Set strategies to retain and acquire key customer segments, to grow the client base and to increase brand awareness

• Oversee the platform partners’ CRM strategies


• Operations: Project-manage integrations alongside IT, ops and development teams



 Competencies and abilities:



• Relevant degree in business or related field
• A global mindset with a proven track record of relevant work experience, with a minimum of two years outside your home country
• 10+ years experience in digital commerce or marketplaces, 6+ years running a sales channel
• Minimum 6 years working in luxury or advanced designer

• An understanding of the luxury fashion customer’s needs across geographies
• Experience running showroom/ market appointments with partners


• Minimum 2 years senior-level experience working with external partners and trade partners in US, European and Chinese environments; preference for established Farfetch, Tmall/ Alibaba and North American 3rd party platform relationships; expertise with both Alibaba and Farfetch ecosystems

• Experience leading a Farfetch e-concesssions business, with Media Solutions as well as Platform Solutions (FPS)
• Experience launching and running a Tmall flagship business

• Experience prospecting and working with trade partners
• Experience establishing an Alibaba Joint Business Partnership
• Expert knowledge on Alibaba marketing channels: Taobao Express, Diamond Boost, Brandhub, etc…


• Expertise with launching flagships on global platforms and establishing operational infrastructure for a new business
• Requirement for a deep technical knowledge of CN and US operations, specifically with localized payment providers, order management and inventory management systems
• An appreciation for the Acne Studios brand image and how the brand would like to be perceived
• Strong leadership skills including the capacity for improvement, ability to drive change, ability to delegate and collaborative problem solving
• Strong analytical and numerical skills
