Master thesis
Simulations of leakages in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and model scenarios for fire extinguishing releases is the subject you will be writing about. You will investigate the possibilities of conducting simulations of our auxiliary systems in gas turbine packages when a fire occurs. After investigating and obtaining the input needed to run the simulations, you must check whether the current method of calculating and dimensioning the extinguishing system is correct or if there is room for improvement.
Expectations for the result of the master's thesis:
We expect to receive a comprehensive simulation report that considers different scenarios for one or two of our gas turbine packages. The different scenarios could include different leakage locations in the enclosure as well as different amounts of extinguishing media released.
Trainee Program:
During the trainee program, you will undergo further training through a combination of theory, practice, and real-world cases. The trainee program provides you with the opportunity to combine education with practical work in various technical areas. You will receive in-depth training in the different systems you will work with, as well as a comprehensive understanding of Siemens Energy's organization, processes, and work methods, etc. You will work with people from all around the world and have the opportunity to develop and deepen your technical interests.
You will become a part of an open and dynamic workplace where professional and personal development are highly prioritized. We offer a flexible workplace with diverse tasks and significant opportunities for personal development for those in the early stages of their careers. Siemens Energy's office i located in Finspång, but as a trainee and part of Siemens Hub, you have the opportunity to work remotely from Norrköping at a local Work Space for a few days a week. When the trainee program is completed, you will continue to work in the regular business as a consultant.
You will receive a customized training program based on your background and experience. You will have a dedicated mentor from the department to help you and provide a good start to your trainee position. You will be employed as a consultant at Skill and receive a monthly salary during both the thesis project and the trainee program. Scheduled start for the Master thesis is in January 2024, after the thesis is done the Trainee program will continue to January 2025.
You will work on fire detection and extinguishing systems in Siemens Energy's for the department of Development & Standard, Fire & Gas. You will join the CFD group to participate in ongoing discussions about other systems. Here, you will also receive support for your own simulations.
