Background of thesis project
How to evolve the business model with supplier partners to enable the servitization of the Volvo group?
As the world strive for technologies that will support decarbonization & gain efficiency in transporting goods, the Volvo group is accelerating its transformation journey in order to meet the demand but also bring the right offer to accelerate the transition of the major ecosystem players.
The yet low scale of those new technologies, their characteristics, their rare materials, and the enormous investments for development makes those technologies more expensive.
It creates a room to think a different approach to the market. Servitization, equipment as a service and other new business model are now being considered as a new way forward for the Volvo group.
What does that mean? In order to enable this transformation, key questions arise for the Purchasing organization. What should we then develop as new partnership & business models in the area of connectivity, softwares, etc? How to evolve the business model with supplier partners to enable the servitization of the Volvo group? What will be the enablers to do so?
