Quality control of manufactured parts at VCE are currently carried out through a mixture of automated and manual work. The development of compact, precise and efficient sensors (e-g-. vision) has made it possible to perform quality control in a much more efficient way.
Suitable background
Expected skill: student 1 - product development; student 2: Prototyping will simple hardware tools like raspberry pi, computer vision, python, c++, or similar
Description of thesis work
The thesis work will investigate the feasibility and applicability of a mobile sensor-system (e.g. Cameras, lidar etc.) for product and production quality. The goal is to develop a prototype that can be tested against applications such as surface porosity, machined geometry deviation etc.
The students are free to choose which application they will focus on after after an evaluation phase. The first phase will inform the requirements for the prototype in terms of type of sensors, lighting, ergonomics, interface etc. The goal for the second phase is to design and develop a solution along with validation of the solution.

Language: English or Swedish. The written work need to be in English.
