Group Digital & IT
We are experiencing the greatest shift in the history of transport and infrastructure. Tomorrow’s vehicles and construction equipment are electric, connected, and autonomous, increasing safety and reducing environmental impact. With more than 1 million connected vehicles, Volvo Group is at the forefront of this evolution. Our ambition for 2030 is to be 100% safe, fossil-free and more productive, and to have 50% of revenues coming from areas other than our physical products.
Within Volvo Group Digital & IT we are on an exciting journey to contribute towards this vision. Digital Delivery is a new function within the Volvo Group Digital & IT that aims to identify and execute on new digital initiatives and modernize existing solutions across the Volvo Group brands. With a new product-centric operating model and modern technology architecture we create digital products that are profitable, scalable, and differentiated. We use a cross functional approach to work on product design and deliveries that improves business performance and creates value for the entire Volvo Group.

Description of thesis work
The aim of this Thesis work is to study and understand our current sales process and to explore the possibility of using our existing e-commerce platform to sell Turn-Key ready Trucks directly to the end-user in the future.
Generally, every commercial Truck is customized for its intended use and differs from another truck, which makes the configuration of a commercial Truck a highly complex process. To make the process of ordering a Truck online, simple for the end-user, we would like our students to analyze our current sales process and based on the historical data shortlist the most common configurations which are being sold today. Our aim is to enable the possibility of these frequently used configurations as Turn-Key ready Trucks which can be sold in our e-commerce platform.
At present our e-commerce platform is used extensively to sell spare parts and other related services in the After Sales area and we would like our students to investigate and model what changes, new processes etc. we would have to implement to enable such sales directly to the end-user.
During the Thesis work, the students will be working with confidential data and processes specific to Volvo which they aren’t allowed to publish and communicate in public and will have to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
