Currently, the fourth industrialization is ongoing introducing and pushing automation and digitalization. Volvo Construction Equipment want to keep the world leading position and is therefore undergoing an automation and digital transformation enabling smart manufacturing of the next generation of construction equipment.

Description of thesis work
Volvo Construction Equipment has a smart factory team that together with production, logistics and maintenance evaluate and demonstrate technologies. Within the Factory 4 Tomorrow area, Volvo Construction Equipment have a number of possible topic proposals:
Smart machine and maintenance optimization
IoT, data gathering, analysis and visualization
Next generation logistics (AGV, AMR)
Real time location system
Training and work instructions using AR
Human robot collaboration
Computer vision
Advance analytics for production optimisation
Virtual manufacturing preparation
Factory scanning
Off-line programming machining
We are looking for several students to collaborate with use. Do you have another idea or interest? Projects may also be initiated by you, so welcome with suggestions.
