With Volvo Construction Equipment, one of the world’s leading providers of products and services to the construction industry under the brands Volvo, SDLG and Terex Trucks, you will be part of a global and diverse team of highly skilled professionals who work with passion, trust each other, and embrace change to stay ahead. We make our customers win.
Right now, there is a strong connectivity trend in the vehicle business and all vehicle manufacturers are working in this field to build knowledge and develop products. Now, we are ready to step toward the next level and provide information which can be distributed to other part of the value chain of materials.
Our machines, specifically wheel loaders, are getting equipped with more and more sensors like radar and cameras. The idea of collecting data from the very first step of the material handling process is a core of this thesis proposal. The sensors combined with our connectivity infrastructure provide a strong base to start, and we need talented students to drive it.
Cameras will be common equipment in our new machines, so investigating the possible information which can be collected from cameras will be a start. Such information could be useful for various assist functionalities and services, and to drive future automation functions where knowing the characteristics of the material handled by the machine is important. Material properties like volume, grain size, and type of materials will be first in line. On this way, you will be supported by fantastic Volvo portfolio of experiences. You will be a part of diverse and fun team that prioritizes your success.
