Flex Power Modules develops and produces world-class power modules for Datacenter, Telecom and AI applications and have global footprint and engagement. The typical products are DC/DC, PoL (point of load) products and we constantly develop new innovative platforms to our customers.
Flex Power Modules where first in the world to put a digital power module on the market. A digital power module can be configured and monitored through the PMBus [1] interface using our own developed application, the Flex Power Designer [2].
The PKB-D [3] module family is a modern, robust, and cost-efficient analog module platform. The purpose with this thesis is to combine the current analog design with a generic micro controller in order to build a digital variant of the PKB4313D [4]. The thesis includes investigation of what digital features can be achieved and to what price, design of the new product including schematic and PCB layout, selection of microcontroller and development of firmware, verification and reporting. The work includes building a first sample which will be done in our own factory. The focus is on creating a effective code with high requirements on response-time and at the same time ensure the hardware is cheap and compact.
This thesis is intended for two students. With interest in power/electronics and programming of firmware. The length and depth of the thesis work can be adjusted to accommodate for a Bachelor thesis of 16 credits or a Master thesis of 30 credits (credits = Högskole poäng).
