Come, and be where it begins.
Business Area Networks: where 5G was born! We’re a global team of approx. 30,000 in 93 countries, with 126 nationalities represented. About half of us work in R&D, approx. 6,000 in Group Supply and 5,000 in Service Area Networks. Together we create future-proof, scalable network architectures in an industry that is constantly on the move.
Our approach is simple:
We build solutions that empower our customers to meet tomorrow’s demands. 5G is happening now!
Our Exciting Opportunity
Telecommunication equipment used in an outdoor environment is becoming more and more common due to the ever growing performance demands currently driven by the implementations of 5G networks in many markets globally. Many Ericsson telecom products are designed with an integrated antenna and the part of the enclosure covering the antenna is called Radome. Since the Radome need to allow a very low loss of Radio Frequency (RF) performance degradation it is typically made from a material that is less mechanically robust compared to other parts of the enclosure. These materials are new and complex and behavior during mechanical stress is difficult to predict. One important test case of the Radome is based on mechanical impact from hail.
You will
Investigate actual hail characteristics from different parts of the world
Investigate how other industries are defining requirements and testing hail impact
Design and manufacture a test rig to be able to test and verify the Radome in the most realistic way
Work with mechanical design, as well as electronics and PIC programming

To be successful in the role you must have
Experience at Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics.
Experience with CAD, we use CREO
Experience in electronics - being able to build a system used to detect and capture data is a big benefit but not strictly necessary
University credits: 30hp
