Material Development Specialist

As a part of building our new Global Hygiene Category organization, we are searching for a Material Specialists to our Chemical Formulations material development team within R&D Tissue Core.
The Global Hygiene Category leads SCA?s hygiene brand portfolio and delivers brand development and innovation for our three business areas, Incontinence Care, Consumer Goods and Professional Hygiene. The Material Specialist is responsible for leading the material development in the chemical formulations area in close cooperation with suppliers, innovation teams and other appropriate parties. The Chemical formulations area will deliver cross all categories within our three business areas. The role will be located in Gothenburg

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Recommend suitable material/and or supplier in innovation projects and other material related activities, such as material rationalization and quality improvements. The participation in projects/activities can be of different levels - as consultant or as part of the project team.
* Lead the required development of new and existing materials in close cooperation with the supplier or other appropriate parties.
* Build and maintain a broad and deep competence and knowledge in the chemical formulations area.
* Participate in assigned patent watch teams, and actively work to patent new material solutions.
* Initiate and lead material development activities in chemical formulations area to propose new and innovative solutions for the R&D program and improve state of readiness for future Innovation projects.
* In conjunction with GHS build and maintain R&D relations with suppliers in own area.
*Own and and establish material specifications in development phase for the chemical formulations area.
* Drive cost efficient use of chemical formulations material throughout the value chain, across Categories and Geographies.
* Build and share best practice by monitoring SCA's and competitor's materials as well as material trends in the industry.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
*University Degree or equivalent within relevant practice (such as chemistry or pharmacy, with specialization in formulation for cosmetics, biocides etc).
*Proven strong material development capabilities and skills.
*5 years of experience in the relevant technical field. Ideally experience from both R&D and operations.
*International exposure
*Demonstrated leadership/networking cabilities, internally as well as in cooperation with external supplier
*Fluent in English, both written and oral
*Ability to travel

*Profound knowledge of chemical formulations area as well as relevant products and features , technologies and materials.
*Good understanding of the material and product development process from consumer insight to launch, incl. project management and working processes/tools related to material and product development, such as patents, Six Sigma etc.
*Genuine business curiosity. Comprehensive understanding of how the whole value chain works. Ability to understand stakeholder requirements, operational limitations and business opportunities.
*Ability to lead, engage and influence others - internally as well as externally
*Action oriented. Pursues everything with energy, drive and a need to finish. Can effectively cope with change and shift gears comfortably.
