Role description
As an MDM Architect you are accountable for building and developing the MDM environment from initial RFX to full setup. You will drive the data and system architecture together with the different TD/BA/GF to setup and manage a federated data environment for our multi domain data scope. The MDM Architect will work closely together with MDM administrator.


The MDM Architect will identify key deliverables and requirements from business, as well as from independent research and analysis. The MDM Architect will manage demand for data. This role is critical to business operations, business analytics, and application development. You will work close together with the different stakeholders to embrace the full MDM capability in all dimensions and aspects.


Core responsibilities as MDM Architect:
Understanding business drivers, expectations and need for MDM solution
Drive the MDM architecture for the implementation and the maintenance of the MDM solution, aligned with the overall North Star IT Architecture and roadmap and multi domain data scope
Understand technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies within the MDM field to support reduction of complexity in business processes, information, applications and integration
Lead the dialogue and cooperation with vendors regarding MDM related tasks in both one-time (project) and Run-time activities (maintenance)
Interact with business and technical stakeholders to translate complex requirements into recommendations for appropriate solutions - define functional and non-functional requirements solutions
Provide expertise regarding cloud-based delivery models for MDM
Good knowledge in Gartner’s implementations styles of MDM
Supporting the data architecture (incl. definition and structure) of business-critical information assets throughout the end to end lifecycle
Keep a continuous dialogue with other architects, information owners, data stewards, product and system owners responsible for sources and other stakeholders. Demos are also common activities
Interacts with Information Architect, Information Owners, Business Information Architects and Data Modeler to ensure the alignment and support of the Enterprise Information model for each data domain
Develop documentation of system components, solutions architecture design and analysis work in accordance with Volvo Group IT enterprise architectural standards
Provide consulting support to application architects within projects to ensure the project is aligned with the MDM architecture
Be part of developing, supporting and implementing the Volvo Group Master Data vision & strategy
Follow the overall architectural processes, policies and code of conduct within Volvo Group
Participate in reviews of architecture concepts and solutions



Who are you?
Technical Skills required:
University degree, preferably computer science or related field
Must have minimum 5 years’ experience as an MDM Architect
Must have knowledge and experience from exercising Master Data as a discipline
Experience in defining and supporting solutions within Master Data Management, preferable within the Customer domain and/or within automotive industry
Good knowledge of one or more MDM tools
Deep understanding of complex enterprise architectures, data governance and management, data architecture (including Information / Data modeling) and data quality
Experience in procurement process
Strong knowledge of cloud-based delivery models for MDM
Experience with API or microservice deployment to consume and / or publish data
Knowledge of Agile framework
