Pilot Plant is a development department within Volvo Cars R&D, with primary responsibility for building physical test objects for product and process verification. We are on a mission to find and correct deviations early on, ensuring the delivery of world-class products from our factories in the long run.

What you’ll do
You will belong to a truly cross-functional team spanning the entire Pilot Plant, responsible for the joining of current and future products in Pilot Plant’s body shop and battery assembly.
In your role as a ME Engineer, you will cover diverse and impactful tasks such as:
- Be a driving force in investment projects, ensuring the right joining equipment’s is in place to build VP series
- Uphold Volvo Cars’ joining standards
- Lead the execution of joining assignments, for example evaluate new technology and performing joining tasks on new materials
- Be the go-to expert on joining equipment in Pilot Plant by familiarizing yourself with the techniques both theoretically and practically
- Extend your support and joining expertise to Volvo Cars factories worldwide
- Be the face of Pilot Plant, representing us in various forums and networks internally and externally
What you’ll bring
We are on the lookout for a self-driven team player with high ambitions, a strong sense of ownership and a dedication to quality in everything you do. As collaboration is key at Pilot Plant, we believe you are someone who openly share your work and expertise while remaining unafraid to seek help when needed. You communicate well in both English and Swedish and have a B.Sc. or equivalent within metal joining or similar area of education. If you have experience with laser welding, consider it extra meritorious.
As you will be leading the deliveries of our joining assignments, we expect you to have strong communication skills making it easy for you to build trust and convey information with transparency and precision.
If you also bring a structured approach to your work, coupled with analytical skills you’ve successfully applied to engineering tasks in the past, you are the ideal candidate!
