We currently have a vacancy for a:
Mechanical Assembly Technician
Duties:
As a member of the "Test Hall" group of the Mechanical Service of the Experimental Halls (SMAE), you will carry out the following duties:
- assembly, adjustment and maintenance of precision mechanical assemblies, neutron guides and rotating machines,
- manufacture and testing of prototypes,
- verification of mechanical parts.
You will be responsible to the head of the SMAE's Test Hall group.
Qualifications and experience:
- RQF level 3 vocational training certificate in mechanical engineering or maintenance (or equivalent), with at least 5 years of experience in assembly, fitting and maintenance of precision mechanical components.
- This post requires skills in mechanical settings and adjustments; some familiarity with machining (turning and milling) would be an advantage, to be able to perform minor adjustments to parts or produce simple assemblies for fitting operations.
- Capacity to work independently and with a methodical and meticulous approach; capable of running instrument assembly jobs and guiding other technicians on assembly operations.
- Good teamwork skills. Clarity. Ability to solve problems on the ground and a sense of service.
Language skills:
As an international research centre we are particularly keen to ensure that we attract applicants from outside France. De bonnes connaissances en français et en anglais sont requises. Knowledge of German would be an advantage.
