Context
A world leader in its field, the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) is an international research organisation at the forefront of neutron science and technology. As part of the ILL's Projects and Techniques Division, the Design, Calculations and Construction service is responsible, among other things, for designing sometimes highly complex assemblies for projects being carried out in our Science and Reactor Divisions.
Your tasks
1.Mechanical design:
- Carry out technical feasibility studies.
- Design mechanical parts and systems using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
- Choose the right technical solutions.
- Prepare drawings, schematics and full sets of documentation.
2.Project management:
- Assist with the drafting of technical specifications.
- Take charge of the technical management of projects, from design through to manufacturing.
- Monitor the manufacturing and assembly phases in collaboration with the subcontractors and ILLservices concerned.
3.Coordination and communication:
- Work with other ILL services to ensure the seamless integration of mechanical systems.
- Participate in project meetings and report on progress to the stakeholders.
4.Technology watch:
- Keep up to date with technological developments in the field of mechanical engineering.
- Propose innovative solutions and contribute to the continuous improvement of the service.
Your profile
- You have a Master's degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering (or related field).
- You have at least 5 years' experience of performing mechanical design work or equivalent in a designoffice, ideally in a research environment.
- Experience in project management would be a plus.
- You are proficient in the use of computer-aided design (CAD) software and have a thoroughknowledge of the relevant French standards (construction code for unfired pressure vessels).
- You also have a solid background in finite element analysis and mechanical simulation.
- You are meticulous and methodical in your work, with a keen attention to detail.
- You are an excellent team player. Your flair for innovation and your ability to solve technical problems will be invaluable assets.
- You have a perfect command of French and a good level of technical English.
