Mechanical design engineer

Arbetsbeskrivning

Minesto was founded in 2007 as a spin-off from aircraft manufacturer Saab. Today, listed on the Nasdaq First North stock exchange with more than 50 employees and operations in Sweden, Wales, Northern Ireland and Taiwan, Minesto is a driving force in the creation of an emerging renewable energy industry.

Minesto’s award winning and patented product, Deep Green, is the only verified marine power plant that operates cost efficiently in areas with low-flow tidal streams and ocean currents.

As Minesto is executing several projects simultaneously, they are looking for an experienced Design Engineer who is driven by the desire to minimise the global carbon footprint and inspired by the challenges involved with moving technology frontiers forward.

As Design Engineer at Minesto, you will be part of an international development team working together towards the commercialization of a ground-breaking renewable energy technology with global expansion potential.

The role

You will be based in Gothenburg but expect travelling to Minesto’s suppliers as well as to operational sites.

You will be part of one or several development projects and become responsible for managing development and delivery of components and sub systems for Minesto power plants, from initial design through delivery of parts and assemblies to any of our kite manufacturing sites.

The role includes a lot of detail design work in Catia V6, which means that you must be comfortable and experienced with the Catia environment. Further, the role will also involve working with different materials, mechanical components and rotating equipment, manufacturing processes and integrating electronics in a subsea environment.

The role also includes being involved in the procurement process, ranging from finding and evaluating suitable suppliers, producing specification, managing suppliers and participate in inspection and testing programs.

You will be reporting to the Design Manager in Minesto but be working closely with all the technical group and project managers as well as test/operating sites throughout all phases of all projects.

Typical assignments could be:

• Detail design of power plant components and sub systems
• Supplier management and interaction during procurement and design/delivery phases
• Participate in testing and certification activities in labs and offshore environments

Your profile

You are an experienced Catia user and thrive working with detailed design. You are creative, self-propelled and interested in technology.

Minesto has a unique product covering many different engineering disciplines. You are a person not afraid of learning new areas, as understanding the product better is key when optimizing and improving the design – but you already have a solid background within product or mechanical design.

Key Qualifications:

• Catia V5/V6
• Minimum MSc Engineering degree (design/mechanical)
• 5 years of relevant working experience post graduation

Merit Qualifications:

• Subsea design
• Composite design

Minesto is an international company and it is important that you have a confident level of English. This position is based in Gothenburg and solid skills in Swedish is therefore beneficial.
