Mechanical Design Engineer

Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Project Engineer to join our bold Equipment Design & Manufacturing team in Västerås.
In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.
The Project Engineer will be in charge of managing the introduction of the next generation of processing equipment from conceptual phase all the way through to commissioning . This position is instrumental to scale up Northvolt’s operations in Sweden and beyond.
Reporting to the Equipment Design & Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will be part of a dynamic, cross-functional team which will operate within the fields of Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Connectivity & Sensing, working intimately with the R&D department for cell design and our & Production team.
The ultimate goal of this very important team is to create the best equipment strategy to enable the production of the world's greenest batteries!

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop detailed timing plans and manage their implementation/execution
Understand and aid Development of high level operational requirements into detailed design requirements and engineering principles
Lead and participate in technical design reviews
Supplier Relationship Management
Develop and maintain document structure within PLM systems

Education / Experience / Knowledge
BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field such as Mechatronics / Design / Industrialization etc.
Working experience in equipment design and/or Project Management
Experience from manufacturing industry, cell manufacturing is a plus
Experience in 2D & 3D Modeling
Strong understanding of the process from early mechanical layout geometrical assurance to detailed technical drawings
Excellent English written and oral skills, Swedish is a plus
Experience with Confluence and/or Jira
