Business Area Bedroom consist of a range of storage furniture, hallway furniture and beds. We are now strengthening the team within comfort, meaning soft beds and mattresses. The comfort area is a business that is growing year by year, and we want to become the best retailer for sleep for costumers all over the world.
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who together with us will develop the IKEA product offer.
Job description
The feeling of comfort when sitting in a sofa, work chair or sleeping in a bed is important in people's everyday lives. Good comfort is what makes people want to use the product over and over again. Good comfort defines our customers' quality perception.
Within BA bedroom we are now looking for someone who will lead the mechanical design development within comfort for beds and mattresses.
You will work in a team with designer, project leader, requirement specialist and mechanical design engineers.
You will have a close contact with the category area of comfort who is the connection to our suppliers.
With our specialists within the category, you can discuss what materials and production solutions that will enable the best form and function for a specific product.

In this recruitment, we are looking for someone who has a strong drive, who takes initiatives and are used to drive your own agenda. You like to work in team constellation and to collaborate with a wide network of colleagues.
Experience from working with comfort is good, but equally important is that you are curious and eager to learn about the characteristics of different foams, wadding and comfort springs! We hope that this add catches your interest!
Qualification
You have studied Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
You have experience of working in product development in different kind of materials and production methods,
You have good competence in 3D CAD engineering and basic structural dimensioning.
You can work with product documentation, even when it becomes repetitive, and you can also be very practical and make things happen with your bare hands.
You are a problem solver with strong communication skills with the ability to build relations.
In your mind a failure is just another idea that did not work out and you are not afraid to try, again and again.
You have a passion for details, constantly curious and able to take decisions in a rapidly changing environment.
You are self-driven and can lead others around you while taking on the responsibility and possibilities for leading engineering projects.
