Right now, we are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who together with us will develop the IKEA product offer.
Job description
You are an important contributor in the creation of our new products and solutions to deliver the best customer experience, sustainable solution and quality, at the lowest costs. You take a stand in important matters, and you are willing to challenge known patterns.
You will be responsible for:
Develop the mechanical design of products with different materials and functions from concept sketch to final products, always with Democratic Design in your mind.
Work with Improvements of Existing Range
To apply IKEA’s Shared Solutions, standard components and materials.
To secure that all mechanical requirements (legal as functional) are covered by the product design
To develop, document and maintain the digital 3D models and 2D drawings with all relevant dimensions and tolerances according to IKEA CAD Standards
To evaluate constructions with Calculations and (FEM) simulations by doing some yourself and together with our in-house FEA-experts before testing on prototypes
Qualification
You have experience from production and working with in different kind of materials and production methods,
You have studied Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
You have good competence in 3D CAD engineering and a good knowledge of FEM analysis and basic structural dimensioning.
You have the attitude that we can always do “things a little bit better today than yesterday” together with strong communication skills and the ability to build strong relations
In your mind a failure is just another idea that did not work out and you are not afraid to try, again and again.
You have a passion for details, constantly curious and driven to develop new and better solutions. On top of that you are able to take decisions in a rapidly changing environment.
You are self-driven and can lead others around you while taking on the responsibility and possibilities for leading engineering projects.
