Electromobility is one of the main development areas within Volvo Group and was created to be at the forefront of environmentally friendly transport solutions for a more sustainable tomorrow. We are responsible for the transition from conventional powertrains to electromobility and to secure a stepwise implementation in different segments/regions. We develop and drive the electromobility product portfolio for Trucks & Buses as well as create opportunities for all business areas within Volvo Group. About the role
This position is in the module team, a team in our electromobility area created to be at the forefront of environmentally friendly transport solutions. The team is responsible for the development of battery modules and building world-class knowledge in battery module design and related technology areas. Additional responsibilities:
Lead the battery module design: concepts, specification, documentation, CAD, drawings, prototyping, test, and production transfer.
Take technical responsibility and coordinate activities during product development.
Lead and support continuous improvements for existing products.
Create plans and perform releases of technical documentation.
Define module verification items and test conditions.
We are looking for a…
… pragmatic and open-minded team player that loves to develop system designs/components with the customer in focus. You have a broad knowledge and experience of both electrical and mechanical development. You know just how to build blocks in a complete battery pack and understand how they impact ESS performance and functionality. We also believe that you are confident in leading technical solutions for suppliers and product teams. Furthermore, you feel comfortable owning and taking responsibility for your system.
Requirements:
Master of Science in Mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Excellent skill in Creo/CATIA to design robust mechanical parts and take into consideration boundary conditions for cooling/heating and swelling.
Experience in mechanical component design, e.g. welding structures, castings, sheet metals parts, and plastic parts.
Design for modularity.
Practical knowledge of FEM calculations.
3 years of experience in design & architecture within Energy Storage Systems.
Experience with the battery technologies/systems within the application of electric vehicles.
Knowledgeable about the manufacturing of cells and battery modules.
Fluent in both written and spoken English.
Experience within KOLA, pdm-link, DCN releases, PTM/MS or JIRA is a merit.
