Mechanical Design Engineer - Business Area Living Room

The product range – our identity and Range & Product Engineering is one of the most important enablers to ensure that we live up to the IKEA vision.

The Product Engineering organization enables, thru innovation and together with other organizations, us to live up to and strengthen our democratic design and thereby support the Business Areas to deliver to better homes and better products.

You are an important contributor in the creation of our new products and solutions to deliver the best customer experience and quality, at the lowest costs. You take a stand in important matters and you are willing to challenge known patterns.

You will be responsible for:
Develop the mechanical design of products with different materials and functions in the Living Room range, from concept sketch to final product
To apply IKEA’s Shared Solutions, standard components and materials
To secure that all mechanical requirements (legal as functional) are covered by the product design
To develop, document and maintain the digital 3D models and 2D drawings with all relevant dimensions and tolerances according to IKEA CAD Standards
To evaluate constructions with Calculations and (FEM) simulations before testing on prototypes
To be the main contact with IKEA of Sweden prototype department
