Arbetsbeskrivning
Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
Scania Power Solutions is a product area, with responsibility to develop and market Engines for a broad range of industrial and marine applications. The business is managed as a “Company within the company”, based on synergies. At Technical Development within Power Solutions we are responsible for the development and adaptation of the complete engines and its performance throughout the complete project and product lifecycle. The shift towards sustainable and electrified solutions is evident also in the Engines business and we are committed to contribute to that future.
The team
The team ‘Mechanical Design’ within Power Solutions is now looking for a driven mechanical design engineer.
As a mechanical design engineer you will work closely to the market and customers, both with customer adaptation on today’s serial engines as well as development of our future engine program and electrified solutions. The team is responsible not only for mechanical design and layout but also hard ware testing, coordination of development projects and special orders(S-order). As a new member in the development team you will be welcomed by highly committed, skillful and experienced engineers.
Your role
As a mechanical design engineer in the team, you will mainly work in Catia V5 but also perform basic calculations/simulations to secure high quality solutions that respond to the customer’s need. You will be involved in the assignments all the way from customer need to product launched in production. As a design engineer you will participate during test assemblies in production, technical discussions with customers and suppliers as well as work cross-functionally with other departments within Scania's organization. In addition to the design work, it will also be part of the role to coordinate and follow up deliveries in the projects cross-functionally.
Your profile
Power Solutions offers a dynamic environment with close cooperation with customers and the marketing organization therefore it is important that you share our passion to understand the customer.
In order to be successful as a design engineer at Power Solutions, it is necessary for you to have a basic understanding of diesel engines. It is meritorious to have knowledge of electrified solutions. A suitable educational background is a master, candidate or equivalent in machine engineering or product development. Competence acquired through work experience are also highly valued. Experience of mechanical design or/and Scania systems are important.
Since the team is a relatively small team, 10 people, it is important that you as a person define yourself as flexible and accountable and that you are driven to develop your professional skills and also develop as a person. You as a person are structured and can handle several assignments at the same time with a sense of good-enough, without the risk of low quality. It is also necessary that you can collaborate well within your own team as well as with cross-functions. Aptitude for cross-functional coordination is important. An interest in development of working methods and processes are valuable.
