Are you a Design Engineer who wants to make vehicles more reliable, more environmentally friendly, and more pleasant to drive? Would you want to be involved in all phases of product development from first sketch to validation and series production?

AKWEL Sweden is the automotive industry's resource for shaped pipes and conduits in metallic materials. As part of an international automotive and heavy goods vehicle components manufacturer with main office in France, AKWEL Sweden are now looking for a Design Engineer with experience from automotive industry to join their team in Varberg. You will be part of a cross-functional organization, which supports AKWEL’s customers globally.

About the role
As a Design Engineer you will act as a link between customer and manufacturing, creating design solutions according to technical product requirements and company standards. You will work in all phases of product development, from a first sketch to prototype production, validation and finally series production. Your tasks will include but not be limited to:
• Creating and updating design data such as product drawings, CAD models and geometrical interfaces in CATIA V5
• Store, maintain and release design data using PLM software
• Perform design studies and mechanical construction of prototypes
• Testing and validation of design
• Manage the functional analysis and product failure mode analysis (FMEA)
• Responsibility for the design study schedule, the design study budget, and the consistency of the product design in relation to the specifications and customer expectations.

Your profile
We are looking for someone with university degree within mechanical engineering or similar field and at least two years' experience of design work within automotive industry. You should have good knowledge and experience from CAD/PLM tools and ability to balance the design between cost, quality, and performance, all the while taking constraints from production and other disciplines into consideration. Experience with functional analysis and product failure mode analysis, FMEA, is an advantage as well as good design knowledge in metal, plastic, and rubber. Solid ability to write and communicate in English and Swedish is a requirement.
