Mechanical Designer

You will be part of High Voltage Breakers, a business unit within the Power Products division in Ludvika. High Voltage Breakers has a worldwide ABB responsibility for development, production and sales of high voltage breakers for power systems within both AC and DC. New products are developed and tested in our high voltage laboratory and the markets are found both in Sweden and in other parts of the world. The high voltage breaker is an essential part of a reliable and energy efficient power system.

Tasks:
Are you enticed by the opportunity to develop high voltage breakers and make them production ready? Would you like to be involved in a product?s lifecycle from idea to finished goods? If you in addition want to be part of a global environment where international contacts are frequently occurring, this could be the right position for you. As one of our new Mechanical Design Engineers you will contribute with ideas and technical knowledge. It will be your task to create drawings and other documentation based on the first draft. You will also collaborate with suppliers to prepare design details. Their function will then be verified through testings before they are manufactured in our workshops. In addition, you will be responsible for the details and design that you are involved in developing. The position entails regular contacts with receiving departments and ABB units around the world.

Requirements:
You combine a Technical high school diploma with extensive experience from design work. Alternatively you hold a Bachelor or Master in Engineering with a major in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. As you will work in a global organization it is a prerequisite that you are fluent in spoken and written English. It is positive if you have worked in CAD (ProE), MS Office, document management programs or an ERP system. Of course, a strong technical interest is a condition for your success. You have both the enthusiasm and creativity required to come up with ideas and solutions to varying problems. Moreover, you are a thorough and task-oriented person who always brings your assignments to closure. At the same time you are a true team-player who ensures the progress of every project you participate in.
