As part of the ILL's (9-person) Mechanical Engineering Service, you will join the project team working primarily on the design process, and monitoring production operations and jobsites for various projects (refurbishment of the horizontal cold neutron source, building reinforcement for the fresh-air intake and sprinklers on Level C).
Your tasks
Your role will be firstly to monitor the subcontracting of design studies and calculations. Secondly, you will monitor the manufacture and installation of the new equipment. For these two tasks, you will benefit from assistance from other engineers in the manufacturing unit, as well as from other technicians in the operational teams for the jobsites.
Your main duties will be to:
- Contribute to the overall design process and monitoring of subcontracted design work for the projects
- Organise project planning and prepare the associated budgets
- Produce design specifications and monitor the carrying out of design studies
- Produce specifications for the procurement of equipment
- Take part in the organisation of calls for tenders and supplier selection
- Monitor all manufacturing stages (inspections, validation, non-conformity analysis, etc.), equipment acceptance, etc.
- Monitor and assist with the installation of equipment (equipment assembly procedure, qualification test procedure, commissioning of installations) in collaboration with other ILL services or outside subcontractors.
Your profile
- Master's degree (engineering or equivalent qualification) in mechanical and hydraulic engineering
- At least 5 years' professional experience required
- Experience of manufacturing within a quality assurance framework
- Knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic design (structures, SKID, etc.)
- Knowledge of structural design (strength of materials)
- Knowledge of physical measurements and instrumentation.
- A 'hands-on' approach to your work, as well as a sense of autonomy.
- Very good writing skills (technical procedures and specifications, etc.).
- A sound knowledge of English is required; some knowledge of German would be an advantage.
