Job Description
Introduction

The Engineering Department (EN) pushes forward the limits of technology to provide innovative research tools to the physics and engineering worldwide community. Within Sources, Targets and Interactions Group (STI) of the EN department, you will join the Targets Dumps and Collimators (TCD) section which is responsible for the mechanical aspects of CERN's beam intercepting devices.

Beam intercepting devices such as targets, collimators and beam dumps are key components in CERN's accelerator complex. They are mechanical devices which are used to absorb particles from the high energy particle beams needed for CERN's experimental research programme, either to produce secondary beams or to protect the accelerator equipment against beam-induced damage. The increasingly high particle beam energies and intensities needed to ensure CERN's position as the world leading particle physics research laboratory lead to unprecedented challenges in the design of new or upgraded beam intercepting devices. Employment Conditions

Contract type: Limited duration contract (5 years). Subject to certain conditions, holders of limited-duration contracts may apply for an indefinite position.

These functions require:

Work in Radiation Areas.
Interventions in underground installations.
A valid driving licence is required.
Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.
Shift work, when required by the needs of the Organization.
Stand-by duty, when required by the needs of the Organization.
