Media Relations Associate, Volvo Group
The Volvo Group is, as the largest company in Sweden with operations in more than 190 countries and 100 000 employees, of great interest for many stakeholders all over the world. As we are transforming ourselves, and the transport industry, there are a lot of good story’s to be told, and a lot of misconceptions to be straightened out. Media has a natural interest in what’s going on, and I’m looking for a colleague to help me explain that.
You are probably at the beginning of your career wanting to take next step. You enjoy to be thrown into a broad variety of issues, and don’t shy away of going the extra mile to get the job done. You handle stress and uncertainty in a good way and you pay attention to detail.


Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Media Relations, you will be part of the global Group Communications team and work in close cooperation with Business Areas in order to develop, deliver and evaluate efficient media relations, communications & PR plans and tactics.

You understand the importance of measuring and follow-up media relation activities in order to provide metrics supporting us on the journey with continuous improvements.


Key responsibilities
Media relations: Create, execute and participate in media relation activities created by you and the Volvo Group Communication teams. Prepare spokespersons and/or at times be the Volvo Group media spokesperson, develop communication assets and follow up on activities.
Coordination: Coordinate deliverables with Group Communication and Business Areas Communication teams.
Monitoring: Keep abreast of developments in the PR field to improve the communication strategies, measuring the impact of media relation activities.

Educational Qualifications and experience
Bachelor’s Degree in related field or similar experience

Critical Competencies
Hands-on approach, capable of quickly switching between strategic thinking and operational work. Pay attention to important details
Crafty in follow-up
Excellent people and teamwork skills. Strong capacity to build networks in a multicultural, global environment and to influence others to make things happen
Proficiency in digital communication and digital channel development
Ability to work as a trusted and respected advisor and communication coach to senior leaders. You are not easily intimidated but know where and when to compromise
Solid planner and great project management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Self-starter
Fluent in English
