Vacancy: Media, Public Relations and Political Officer, British Embassy
The British Embassy is responsible for promoting good relations between the UK and Sweden, providing information to the UK government about political developments in Sweden, and promoting UK interests in Sweden. It does this through making and maintaining extensive contacts with people at all levels in Swedish society.
Duties and Responsibilities
This varied and interesting job will involve both Media and Public Relations work and political work at the Embassy.
Work involves:
* Monitoring and analysing the political, economic and scientific media, and reporting key articles to the Embassy and to London. Writing regular media reports.
* Placing articles, arranging press related events, meeting journalists.
* Monitoring and analysing domestic political developments in Sweden and reporting major developments and trends to the Embassy and to London.
* Developing contacts with key Swedish opinion formers and commentators. Maintaining and expending the Embassy's contacts database.
Skills and Experience Required
Essential:
- Experience of media work in Sweden.
- Proven knowledge of media and political scene with a wide range of contacts.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills including fluent English and Swedish.
Highly desirable
- Excellent organisational skills and an ability to prioritise and tasks and work to deadlines.
- Good networking skills and aptitude for providing a customer driven service.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Good team working skills as well as the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Good IT skills.
Employment will be subject to security clearance.
As an employee of a Diplomatic Mission, the salary is not subject to income tax until 1 January 2007.
