Medical Informaticians
Would you like to contribute to the safer use of medicines globally? We are looking for two Medical Informaticians to join our multidisciplinary research team in advancing the science of pharmacovigilance. The main focus of these positions is to contribute medical informatics expertise and perspectives to scientific method development and evaluation.
What you will do
- Provide clinical, medical, and medical informatics expertise, internally and externally
- Perform analysis of relevance, importance and needs, for the development of new methods for pharmacovigilance analysis
- Support the development and deployment of experimental methods for pharmacovigilance and medical decision support from a usability perspective, using for example prototyping
- Develop methods for data-driven discovery in support of signal detection and exploration
- Develop computational methods to support and enhance human decision-making throughout pharmacovigilance
- Evaluate methods from several perspectives, ranging from technical validation to impact analysis
- Provide expertise in medical information management, including structuring information and coding
- Work closely with data scientists and other pharmacovigilance scientists in all phases of research projects, at times contributing as a programmer if appropriate
- Support implementation and follow up of pharmacovigilance methods in settings outside the Research department at UMC
- Communicate scientific results in presentations, posters and scientific articles
You have a
- MD (one position), or degree in another medical discipline (one position)
- MSc degree in Medical/Health/Biomedical Informatics
- PhD is a plus
You have three years of clinical experience and experience in
- Evaluating methods or health information systems
- Programming
- Medical terminologies
- Health information systems, electronic health records, registries
It’s a plus if you also have experience with
- Programming in Python
- Analysis of the relevance and needs for new methods/approaches to process medical data
- Data driven methods development
- Human Computer Interaction and prototyping
- Medical decision support
