The Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is a foundation and an independent centre for international services and scientific research.Our priorities are the safety of patients and the safe and effective use of medicines in every part of the world.We meet these priorities by innovative research and development, and by providing data, reference, consultative and training resources to medicines regulatory agencies, health professionals, researchers and the pharmaceutical industry all over the world.For more information, please visit www.who-umc.org Position: UMC is the field-name of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring.UMC has on behalf of the WHO organization developed VigiBase, the largest comprehensive independent resource, containing pharmacovigilance data collected from countries participating in the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring.We are now seeking a new member for our Reporting, Analysis & Country Support (RACS) section.The main focus for this position will be country support and reporting.You will monitor individual case safety reports from countries participating in the Programme as well as support the member countries regarding reporting performance and assist them in how to use the UMC tools.You will also support the setting-up and maintenance of the pharmacovigilance system and come up with suggestions for improvement or development.If requested, you will write reports and give presentations and lectures concerning the UMC?s country support activities.You will report to the manager of the country support team.You will participate in teaching and training activity, including visitors to UMC, and the development of our section?s activities.The position requires some international traveling to member countries.The position is full-time, open-ended and located in the UMC?s office in Uppsala. Qualifications: You will need to have a degree in pharmacology or a related discipline (medicine, nursing, pharmacy).A good knowledge of pharmaceutical products and medical terminology is a must.Most of the internal communication and with costumers is undertaken in English which requires that you have fluent written and spoken English.It would be useful if you have knowledge of another foreign language (particularly the official WHO languages; French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian).You have to enjoy interacting with people from different countries and cultures.It is essential that you have structure in your work and are well organized.
