Arbetsbeskrivning
Background
ZeroPoint Technologies is a new start-up company, based on research from Chalmers University of Technology. Focus is on an innovative compression technology, having the potential to significantly compress the content of the cache and memory system. One important benefit is increased performance, due to more efficient utilization of the memory resources leading to fewer accesses to slow memory. Additional opportunities come from lowering the memory bandwidth as well as the opportunity to achieve similar system performance with less memory resources and thereby save cost. The company has secured its technology position through aggressive patenting. To maintain it requires continuous innovations in hardware as well as in system software.
Aim of work
The candidate is expected to do Kernel and/or memory management programming (Linux and/or Hypervisor-level) in the area of memory management for high-performance computer architecture. Focus is on software support for a novel compression subsystem showing very promising characteristics, and parts of the work will involve the interaction between system software and novel hardware mechanisms. In addition, the work includes integration and evaluation work related to customer engagements.
The group consists of experts in computer architecture, performance modeling, ASIC design, and low-level software. The applicant is expected to enhance the team regarding system software from a kernel and memory management perspective.
