As a Metallurgist you will provide metallurgical engineering technical advice and assistance toward the solution of engineering and maintenance problems associated with the design, maintenance and or operation of:
- petrochemical facilities
- pulp and paper mills
- nuclear power plants

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a member of the Welding and Materials group you will:
- Initiate and make formal recommendations for equipment repairs, replacement and/or possible improvement
- Provide consultation on materials weldability
- Provide consultation on heat treatment
- Provide consultation on corrosion problems
- Provide consultation on application of surface treatment (cladding, lining, weld overlay)
- Create / review / approve manufacturing and repair procedures

The Materials and Corrosion specialist will be designated as company expert level 1 (level 1 = company level recognition, level 2 = national level recognition, level 3 = international level recognition), and as such will have to assess questions related to (but not limited to):
- Material selection
- Corrosion protection strategy
- Equipment fabrication / repairs / inspections failure analyses and root cause investigations

Din profil

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Master’s Degree in Materials Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree. A Welding education (IWS- IWT - IWE) would be a plus.
• A minimum of ten (10) years of industrial experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in material selection and specification, damage mechanisms, and failure analysis.
• Broad understanding of the material properties and material selection, material degradation mechanisms and welding challenges that affect integrity and reliability of the cited process industry with good appreciation of materials e.g. carbon steel, low alloy steel, stainless steel, duplex stainless steel and nickel alloys.
• Ability to popularize metallurgical reactions
• Must have excellent verbal and written skills.
• Ability to analyse technical data and problems, formulate appropriate recommendations and work independently. Initiative and strong sense of professional responsibility are considered essential.
• Excellent social skills
