Metrology Engineer, Intelligent Tube Systems

Tube’s service business is a new and growing organization that is part of Sandvik Materials Technology’s (SMT) growth initiative, working with technical services, production-related services and special added operations. We are expanding the service business by introducing Intelligent Tube Systems and, as part of this expansion, we are currently looking for an analytical and curious Metrology Engineer to join us in Sandviken. You will take part in our new offering, in which we supply a system that can monitor important parameters in industrial applications. The purpose of this new offering is sales growth, but also to position SMT in a new business segment for the future. JOB SUMMARY
As a Metrology Engineer, you are actively involved in the success of expanding our new business within Intelligent Tube Systems by contributing with your technical expertise. You develop our technical solutions to enable growth of the business: participating in customer dialogues in order to assess the application, designing sensor setups and applying the most suitable sensors. When our products are installed at customer sites, you will sometimes be part of the installation team. Assessment of sensors, such as their life span and possible environments, is an important part of your work, including collecting external information and conducting laboratory experiments. You also take part in standardizing our solutions, as well as building and maintaining contacts with selected partners in the sensor industry.

As part of this position, you participate in marketing and sales activities connected with Intelligent Tube Systems, which may include visits to prospective customers and involvement in trade shows. Since this is a new business area, we also expect you to actively engage in the development of new system offerings and the department’s continuous improvement process.

Some travel will be required in this position, both domestic and international.

We are looking for someone with a university degree in Metrology, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field. Previous experience from working with strain and temperature measurements in multiple applications is required and, as Intelligent Tube Systems is a technically complex and diverse area, it is necessary to have broad technical knowledge. Additionally, you are fluent in Swedish and English, both in speaking and in writing.
