THE POSITION:
You will be part of the SME (Subject Matter Expert) organization located at Volvo Cars in Gothenburg, Torslanda. Your expertise will be focused on providing knowledge and insights regarding milling and machining of high pressure die-casted aluminum parts. You will be responsible for setting specifications, designing layout and validating all processes for the machining shop. The Torslanda plant will act as a pilot location from which you will get insights and pass this on to other sites globally. This will involve traveling in order to support local expert colleagues on site. You will network and build relationships with purchasing, factory managers, maintenance, technicians and other specialist personnel in order get insights and implement the best possible solutions as needed.
Furthermore you will look at potential suppliers within different areas of expertise in order to support the purchasing department and set up framework agreements. Lastly you will be involved in development projects where you will keep an eye on future technology to find efficiency benefits and make decisions on if and how they potentially can be implemented.
Responsibilities
Specify, design, install, commission and validate machining shop for machining of small and large scale die casted partsLead RFQ preparation and tech evaluation of relevant suppliers and their solutions along with supporting Purchasing in sourcing/MSA evaluationsDiagnose equipment failures, collect data to identify root causes and develop sustainable solutionsDevelop Expert Level Training requirements for operator depended equipment and processesInvestigate, develop and implement countermeasures to prevent repetitive breakdownsClosely collaborate with local and global stakeholders to build a strong network
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
BS in Mechanical or related engineering degree, MS in Mechanical Engineering preferred5+ years of experience within the areaOutstanding root causing and problem-solving skills Experience creating & maintaining a positive atmosphere in a collaborative work team
