The modem is the heart of every Xperia™ phone, and we are looking for an engineer to join our Modem RIL team in Lund. Would you like to join us in the ever-changing world of mobile telephony, and take on the challenges of this fast-moving technology area?
About the position
The team belongs to the section “Access Technology” in Lund and is responsible for securing modem functionality for the European customers, for new products as well as for Android cookie updates. We are right now in a transition period, gradually shifting our attention to 5G, and the modem is a critical part of this transition and we are now looking to strengthen our team.
We are looking for you who are flexible, not afraid to take on new challenges and eager to learn new things. You will be part of a skilled SW engineer’s team working with trouble shooting and development within the Modem RIL area. One of your main tasks will be to analyze issues, find the root cause, and propose possible solutions. Supporting the bring-up and configuration of new modems will be another important task.
We often work with complex issues and you will have many interfaces, internal and external. The position therefore requires competence within the modem area as well as problem solving skills and good communication skills.
About you – Experience, education, skills
BS/MS in computer science or equivalent experience
2-5 years of professional software development experience
Good experience in SW development tools
Experience in analyzing requirements and transform them into software.
Fluent in English, both spoken and written
About you – Functional competencies
Experience in Android development environment and tool chain is required
Experience in Qualcomm development is a plus
Experience in Modem areas are a differentiator
Knowledge in GSM/UMTS/LTE and experience from network signaling is fundamental
Knowledge in IMS domain is of high relevance.
Knowledge in VoLTE, WiFi Calling and related areas is of great interest
Able to read and analyze source code (primarily C, but also C++ and Java)
