Let us describe the challenge we offer
Polestar is blazing a new trail, dedicating ourselves to the development and refinement of electric vehicle performance. Your experience in motor control engineering would be invaluable to us both in concept work and when working with current designs for increased customer satisfaction.
If you are an innovative, open-minded person who believes that electrification is the future of the auto industry, we would like to hear from you.
What you´ll do
Our E-axle Software team is a part of Polestar´s Propulsion department, which is a team with a mission to deliver results which exceed the customers’ expectations. The team consists of E-machine control engineers, software developers, CI/CD & build system experts and calibration engineers. The area of responsibility spans from software design to fine tuning and final optimization before delivery to end customer. Essentially, you will be one of our experts in electric motor control.
Your responsibilities will be:
- Define requirements for motor control software
- Drive design of, and implement motor control functionality, behaviors and algorithms
- Develop and test motor control algorithms in the lab and -in-vehicle
- Define test plans for E-machine and inverter characterization in; - High Voltage E-machine emulator test bed
- E-machine test bed
Who you are
You have a strong will to create the future of electric vehicles - it’s probably fair to call you an EV nerd passionate about solving climate changes. You are enthusiastic, motivated, well-organized and driven. You’re not afraid to try new approaches and out of the box methods. You have a holistic view, including vision, business, and customers. You are a team player with excellent communication skills and a fast learner. To be successful in this role we believe you have:
- M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Data Science or equivalent relevant education
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience (implementation of controls in traction motor or other inverter-fed drives)
- Understanding of field-oriented control and firmware integration for electric drives
- Electric machine and drive systems analysis, modeling and control
- Matlab Simulink and C programming
- Knowledge in interface hardware components, such as; - Voltage and current sensors
- Power stages
- Speed sensors.
Desired skills, not a must:
- Experience with PWM schemes such as space vector, discontinuous, and sinusoidal modulation
- System-oriented understanding of vehicle-level torque control and drivetrain efficiency optimization
- Familiarity with sensor-less motor control algorithms
- Programming languages and tools such as: - Git
- Azure DevOps
- C-code debugging tools
- Python.
At Polestar, you will be leading a cross-functional and international team, with English as a natural language for written and spoken communication.
