MYP coordinator at the International school of Älmhult

The International School of Älmhult has grown rapidly since it opened in 2000 and has currently over 330 students. It is situated in Älmhult in southern Sweden and it is a public school with support from Ikea of Sweden.

The local area, which has a population of approx 16 000, is peaceful and situated in an attractive area with nearby lakes and forests. The provincial town of Växjö is easily reached by either rail or road, as are other cities such as Stockholm or Copenhagen. The school was authorized for the International Baccalaureate's Primary Years Programme in May 2003 and for the Middle Years Programme in May 2009. The school has a friendly atmosphere. The classes are small and all lessons are given in English.



ARBETSUPPGIFTER
Our pupils are from all over the world and are educated in English. The International school is growing to meet the increased demand for places for pupils who need to be educated in English.

The applicant will:
- carry out tasks outlined in IBO MYP coordinators list of responsibilities.
- ensure that school and students comply with IBO regulations.
- lead the curricular development of MYP
- work with PYP coordinator to develop transition within school programmes.
- work with the nearmost DP coordinator to develop alignment in the IB Continuum
- complete all documentation in English
- communicate effectively with all stakeholder and in all formats (presentations, one on one, small group, etc)
- teach for 40% and undertake associated tasks.


KVALIFIKATIONER
Qualifications
The successful applicant will:
- have a degree in appropriate subject,
- have experience in teaching IB MYP programme and able to teach one or more MYP subjects,
- have IB training,
- be an excellent, flexible and effective communicator in all forms of English: written and spoken
- be able to respond positively to change,
- be able to collaborate effectively,
- work positively and effectively with staff and parents,
- be able to lead the development of the IB curriculum with coming changes.
Additionally,
Any of the following should be met:
• MYP teacher experience
• MYP or DP leadership experience
• IB evaluation or authorization experience
Preference may be given to:
• ability to read and speak basic Swedish
• Teacher certification
• Understanding of the Swedish school system and requirements to enter high school and even University
