About Us

ISLK is an authorized IB World School offering the Early Years Programme (EYP), the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) to students from 3- 15/16 years of age.

The language of instruction is English with courses being taught by highly qualified pedagogues with IB training and support. The focus is on developing intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills so students can live, learn, work and succeed in a rapidly changing world.

ISLK opened in August 2006 as a service to the international community in the city of Lund. It is available to children of temporary residents in Lund and surrounding districts, and to Swedish nationals who have had a predominantly international education. The school strives to provide high-quality education in a stimulating learning environment.

Work

The Language support teacher will work with MYP students to develop and strengthen language skills and strategies for students to be able to access the curriculum to their full potential.



The work includes in class support, one to one/smaller group support and targeted English language support classes. The Language support teacher is responsible for assessing and monitoring students’ level of English to support their learning as well as guiding and supporting subject teachers with language support strategies for individual students and groups.



The Language support teacher will be in charge of developing and improving the MYP Language support department in close collaboration with the Learning support team and the MYP coordinator.



The Language support teacher will work in alignment with the standards and practices of the IB MYP framework and role model the IB Learner profile and mission statement.

The work includes performing other related duties, as assigned.



Qualifications & experience

- Certified English Middle Years teacher with additional training/certification in teaching English as an additional language
- Experience working with students ages 11 to 16 to develop English language skills in an international setting
- Previous IB MYP experience
- Learning support and inclusive practices
- Demonstrated effective communication skills with colleagues and parents in regards to English language learning
- Proven strengths in collaboration across many age groups, with teachers and learning support staff
- Experience of working in a multicultural and multilingual Community
- Experience of working with ATL - Approaches to Learning
- Experience and ability to support new students and families arriving to the school with little-to-no English language skills to settle into school
- Department/subject leader experience
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- English native speaker or highly proficient level of English
- Proven experience using digital tools to enhance learning opportunities

  Desired qualifications and experience

- IB workshop training (in school by trained IB workshop leader/IB workshops)
- Student mentorship in a school setting

The working language and language of instruction at ISLK is English. The application must be written in English to be considered.

The position may start with a probation time of 6 months. After the agreed period of time the position will be turned into a permanent position if agreed by both parties.
