Work
At ISLK we follow the IB MYP curriculum with an inclusive approach to learning diversity and needs. In this role you will be part of the Learning Support Team and work in collaboration with the teachers to remove barriers for students' learning through differentiation, extra adaptations and special support. Your role will be to complement the subject teachers in working with students (approx. age 11-16 yrs) in need of additional support. The work will be carried out through short or long term intervention with individuals and groups of students both in and outside the normal classroom setting as well as with teachers and the Learning Support Team enhancing the learning environment. Your work will entail assessing students’ prior knowledge and skills, set individual student goals and develop a plan for evaluating and documenting progress. You may also be asked to make pedagogical investigations and set up individual education plans in collaboration with the teachers, parents and the learning support team. You will work in close collaboration with the MYP Learning Support coordinator and the MYP teachers’ team.

The position may start with a probation time of 6-12 months and after the agreed period of time the position will be turned into a permanent position if agreed by both parties.

The working language and language of instruction at ISLK is English. The application must be written in English to be considered.

Qualifications and experience
Trained, certified middle years teacher, preferably in Mathematics.
Trained learning support teacher or qualifications and experience as a specialist teacher for students with learning support needs (special educational needs) is highly desirable.
Excellent collaborative, organizational and communication skills and an understanding of inclusion and inclusive practices including relational education. At least 2 years of teaching practice.
Knowledge and experience of the IB and the middle years programme is preferable. Experience of working in a multi-cultural and multilingual setting is preferable.
Excellent level of English which is the language of instruction at the school.
Digital pedagodical competence.
