As employees of the commune we spend our working days among people. We make a difference and influence peoples everyday lives. We contribute to the life quality of people. We do this every day. Because of this we feel that we have the most important job in Sweden.
Our occupational responsibilities entail making sure that children learn to read and write, that our roads are safe, that we have clean water and a good environment, we also make sure that new houses are built, we ensure the access to a rich cultural and leisure life, we make sure that our elderly citizens are well taken care of in their golden years. We do all of this and so much more.

ARBETSUPPGIFTER
The International School of Älmhult has grown rapidly since it opened in 2000 and has a current population of over 250 students. Situated in Älmhult in southern Sweden it is a state school with support from Ikea of Sweden. The local area, which has a population of approx. 16 000, is peaceful and situated in an attractive area with nearby lakes and forests. The small town of Växjö is easily reached by either rail or road, as are other large cities in the region and the Continent.
The school was authorised for The International Baccalaureate`s Primary Years Programme in May 2003 and for The Middle Years Programme in May 2009. The school is international and has a friendly atmosphere. The classes are small and all lessons are given in English.
The tasks for this post will be to:
- teach Math in MYP classes, students age 11-16 years, can also be to hold mentorship.
- undertake all teaching responsibilities as outlined by IBO and the school.
- attend required meetings and educations.
- complete documentation as required.
- work interdisciplinary with staff at the school and other schools.
Our language of instruction is English, therefore the applicant must have a good spoken and written English.
KVALIFIKATIONER
The successful applicant will have a adequate level of education (university or similar) in appropraite subjects. The applicant must be flexible and able to respond to the needs of a changing team within a growing workplace.
You must be excited by the development of the school and be able to think independently to make good decisions. Our school is multi cultural and you must have an interest in working in an international environment with different cultures. Collaboration is a key word in our school.
We are looking for a member of staff with IBO teaching experience and who has attended IBO courses.
