The International School of the Stockholm Region is a publically funded international school which exists primarily to serve the educational needs of the transient and/or international community of Stockholm. The school runs the International Baccalaureate’s curricula. The Primary Years Program (PYP) is offered to students from 5-11 years of age, the Middle Years Program (MYP) is offered to students from 11-16 and the Diploma Program (DP) is available for students from 16-19 year of age. The school’s language of instruction is English for all subjects. At ISSR, students can receive an internationally-recognized education in English from 5 to 19 years of age in one location in the center of Stockholm. The teachers at ISSR are qualified and experienced educators. Teachers and staff take part in the wide range of professional development resources and activities offered by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB).
Job description:
ISSR is looking for a student wellbeing coordinator to work in the Middle Years Programme grades 6-9. The position is versatile and requires a flexible individual who can work both individually with students and as a part of a team with a focus on pastoral care. The wellbeing coordinator is a member of the MYP team with a high emphasis on collaborative planning and learning. The role includes, but is not limited to, working closely with advisors and planning advisory time, working pro-actively and reactively with degrading treatment issues, being part of the school’s Equal Opportunity Group, organizing community building events in the MYP, leading the MYP student council and supporting individual students or groups of students with their learning.
Working in the MYP requires organizational skills, flexibility and open-mindedness. There is an ongoing expectation to collaborate closely and communicate with students, parents, and staff to facilitate learning and well-being. Experience in working with children and the empathy and patience to help children solve both academic and social obstacles is essential. All documentation and communication at ISSR is carried out in English.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate activities related to student wellbeing
- Be an active member of the pastoral care team
- Collaboratively plan with deputy head, teachers and student care team
- Maintain homework club for MYP students
- Support students in their learning
- Student supervision
Requirements:
- Documented experience working in a school environment (11-15 years of age).
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
Other qualifications may include:
- experience in working with children in an international school setting
- IB training and/or experience
- Formal education focused on children and young adults
