Network engineering consultant

About the role
For our customer, a big international technology company, we are now searching for a consultant within network engineering. They are looking for someone to join in supporting their Europe network estate, helping to drive projects and owning delivery of key network components whilst supporting resolution of technical issues arising from DC and Project integration.
Some of the activities you can expect to be involved with include:
· DC migration and consolidation – moving to hybrid cloud infrastructure; AWS, on-prem, decommissioning
· Network Hub – building out a new Network Services hub for Europe
· Tech refresh – replacing EoL or obsolete infrastructure; Local LAN, Wi-Fi, Infoblox
· Operational issues – assist support partners as and when required
· Local projects as they arise


The role is a full-time consulting assignment, starting immediately. You can either work as a consultant employed by Hays or act as a sub-consultant. The assignment is initially 6 months, but with good chances of extension.
You can work on-site or remote, but must be able to come to the office in Lund when it’s needed.
Qualifications
To thrive in the role, you are independent, responsible and driven. You are solution-focused, have the ability to take your own initiatives and are structured in your way of working.
You have knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
· Network: Cisco routing & switching, ACI, WLAN, F5 loadbalancers
· Security: Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Bluecoat proxies (NSX experience a plus)
· Services: Infoblox DNS, AWS, RSA, AlgoSec


You also have:
· Ability to understand multiple Network designs, quickly getting to grips with the intricacies of DC Lan and Network hub applications (DDI, Proxies, Firewall, Routers and switches) and delivery
· Proven experience of working with Managed Service partners and vendors to deliver successful change and troubleshoot escalated operational incidents to resolution; experience with Remedy or ServiceNow a plus
· Strong documentation skills, ability to create understandable lasting Network Maps and document procedures to upgrade and design
