The analyses cover fuel rod behavior, neutron physics, core physics, thermo-hydraulics, development of technologies for new fuel concepts and support for licensing and development of fuel and core related analysis methods.
Computer codes being developed within the group include the 2D neutronics code PHOENIX, the 3D core simulator code POLCA and the 1.5D fuel rod design code STAV. The two new positions focus on neutron and reactor physics, and the field of work include all steps from nuclear data libraries, theoretical models and analysis methods development, via implementation in the PHOENIX or POLCA codes, to qualification and documentation of these codes.
The Nuclear Fuel Methods & Technology team is part of the Global Technology Office (GTO) – Sweden unit, which today consists of 18 persons, originating from six different countries.
Who You Are
As an applicant you have a PhD or MSc in neutron and/or reactor physics. Since most of the model development work is implemented in industrial-quality software by the developers themselves, you should be acquainted with software engineering practices. Professional experience in the area is an advantage but you may also be newly examined. You should have very good knowledge of English, in both speaking and writing. Good knowledge in Swedish is a plus, but not a necessity. You should have a strong scientific and engineering interest in the area, have the driving force to continue your development to become a world class specialist and one of our key leaders in developing methods, models and codes. Apart from the advanced neutron and/or reactor physics education this requires very good teamwork and cooperation skills as well as the ability to work independently in challenging development projects.
