We are looking for an ambitious and passionate HSE-officer to join us at ALS Scandinavia (Geochemistry). Our HSE-officer plays a vital role in ensuring workplace safety for all employees by implementing health and safety standards and overseeing our systematic work environment.
The primary objective of the Health, Safety and Environmental Officer is to oversee the operations within the Nordic Geochemistry region including, but not limited Greenland, Sweden, and Finland to ensure Health, Safety and Environmental procedures are aligned to local legislation and global policies.
The Health, Safety and Environmental Officer will be based in Piteå and reporting to the Regional Health, Safety and Environmental Manager.

Common tasks including, but not limited to
· Abide by the ALS company policies and procedures
· Abide by local legislative requirements
· Foster and promote actions which reinforce a safety and sustainability culture within the region
· Compliance to the ALS HSE-Systems
· Ensuring the business’s readiness for internal as well as external audits
· Provide health, safety, and environmental input towards the objectives of the business strategy
· Research and keeping updated with new legislation, trends, and changes within the industry
· Work closely with the Operation Managers, Business Development Manager, and senior staff to plan, direct and coordinate activities within the Nordic lab facilities.
· Ensure issues identified during site safety meetings are being addressed in a timely fashion
· Plan and implement the HSE training matrix for all sites
· Liaise with local government, relevant agencies, and ALS centralized support services to comply with statutory requirements on environmental and safety issues
· Investigate and recommend solutions to resolve historical HSE incidents within the region
· Conduct employee HSE induction training and raise concerns thereof to ensure compliance
About you
We are looking for someone with a university degree or professional qualification in HSE, with 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar role.
Fluent proficiency in both spoken and written Swedish and English is required.
As the HSE-Officer will be the point of contact for stakeholders within and outside the organization regarding safety and environmental issues, strong communication skills are important. We also appreciate candidates who enjoy collaborating with others, can work in a structured manner, and are solution oriented.
Technical knowledge of Geochemical analytical techniques is beneficial, as well as training in BAM and SAM.
To thrive in this role, you should have good knowledge of occupational health and safety issues and be comfortable taking actions when needed. Additionally, you should enjoy working in a hands-on environment with a willingness and ability to travel.
