Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program
Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program (NNTP) is a unique opportunity for young talents. The program will give extensive skills and training for young nuclear professionals who are in the early stage of their career, and it will also offer a great possibility to build networks among nuclear professionals in the Nordic countries. Our offer to you as a Nordic Nuclear Trainee at Vattenfall
Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program is the kickstart of your career within Vattenfall. You are being offered a permanent employment and on top of that you will have the opportunity to develop your professional and personal skills over the course of 15 months. In the Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program you will take part in workshops and site visits during the seminar weeks. Between the seminar weeks, work rotations and project assignment, you will work with your colleagues in a regular position in the organization. Each position comes with a competitive salary and an excellent remuneration package.
Every trainee position is linked to a department within a specific business area and a working location. This means that each position has its own specific responsibilities and challenges and matching profile.
Your responsibilities as a Waste Engineer Nuclear Decommissioning at SKB
The main tasks for our Facility development department is to ensure that the nuclear storage facilities and the transport system are available long term and developed safely and efficiently. This includes to develop strategies and methods for the disposal of spent nuclear fuel and operational and decommissioning waste from the Swedish nuclear power plants.
Waste handling and nuclear decommissioning is a developing area and currently Barsebäck 1 and 2, Oskarshamn 1 and 2 as well as Ringhals 1 and 2 are in different stages of decommissioning. SKB is there to assure a safe and efficient back-end for the nuclear power and you will work to assure, validate and approve the waste back-end route from the nuclear power plant to SKB´s storage facilities.
Key responsibilities:
• Take part in development of waste routes, waste handling, the transport system and the storage facilities
• Develop, implement and improve sustainable nuclear waste management and decommissioning planning
• Develop cost-benefit analysis to optimize costs for waste management
• Contribute to identifying new innovative and more efficient ways of optimising the work with all stakeholders involved
• Take part in research and development projects and engage both internal resources and external companies
Your profile
Whether you want a climate smarter career as a specialist, visionary manager or inspirational project lead in the nuclear industry, we offer you these possibilities within the Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program. We are looking for recent graduates holding a Master´s Degree of Science, with a maximum of 2 years' work experience from the nuclear industry. You are fluent in Swedish and English. Furthermore, you are willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization. Of course you identify yourself with our principles: active, open, positive and safe.
You recognize yourself in the following qualifications:
• Education with specialization in chemistry, physics, logistics, radiation protection, energy systems or similar
• Very good communication skills and strategic skills
• Independent working style
• Well organized and quality minded
• Interested in cost optimization
You have good collaborative and initiative ability, this is important because the unit you will work in serves as point of contact between all waste producers and SKB´s storage facilities.
Location
The base location is at SKB in Solna, Stockholm.
