On behalf of a client, we are looking for tenacious and analytical Communications Associate Manager to our customer. This position is based in Stockholm, reporting to the Head of Communications, Nordics
The ideal candidate will have experience in corporate or policy communications, have a good understanding of the unique Nordic media traditions and a few years of experience working directly with media in Sweden. Critically, they will be no stranger to working in a busy press office, having been at the front line of managing daily issues, handling urgent media requests and drafting responses in a highly demanding and time critical environment.
We are looking for a news hound who is both a strong team player and comfortable working independently; someone who is professional and capable of building good working relationships with reporters to ensure they have the facts and our company comments; and someone who is excited about joining a distributed team where their closest colleagues are based across Europe. The ideal candidate will be able to absorb a lot of knowledge quickly and become well versed in our customers community standards in order to liaise with internal teams on media enquiries relating to content and in order to articulate company’s complex and nuanced policies to reporters on a daily basis.
The ability to combine excellent written and verbal communication skills in native tongue Swedish, a strong fluency in English both when speaking and writing, a keen sense for prioritising, and juggling a number of high profile media enquiries, together with a calm disposition is essential. The ideal candidate will be willing to roll up their sleeves with no task being too big or too small.
Responsibilities
- Work in a busy reactive press office, handling complex and sensitive issues which require prioritisation, cross-team input and internal management;
- Be on the front line talking to media, responding to enquiries, drafting comments, monitoring coverage and social media;
- Liaise with internal teams across EMEA and globally to build media responses;
- Work with PR agencies on media enquiries;
- Help pitch positive stories about products and proactive initiatives; either local initiatives or tailoring global news to make them relevant for a Nordic audience, across national, broadcast, consumer and trade press.
- Prepare briefing materials, draft op-eds and social media posts.
Requirements
- At least 4-5 years of professional experience in communications;
- A strong understanding of the landscape for public discourse in Sweden
- Proven experience in working in a busy press office environment - ideally with some experience working in tech;
- Proven experience working in an agency or similar background requiring an ability to move fast, to quickly adapt to new assignments, and to learn a lot in a short time
- Ability to grasp and understand multiple & complex policies, distilling down how they might impact people in a Nordic country
- A keen sense of the subtle differences between the Nordic countries as well as an understanding of the multi-cultural diversity within them
- Good judgement, ability to multitask and prioritise
- Inquisitive and resilient in nature
