The European Spallation Source is one of the largest science and technology infrastructure projects being built today. The project includes the most powerful linear proton accelerator ever built, a five-tonne, helium-cooled tungsten target wheel, 15 state-of-the-art neutron instruments, a suite of laboratories, and a supercomputing data management and software development centre. In the context of its history and future as a scientific organisation, however, it is more than the sum of its parts. It is a brand new Big Science organisation and we are building it from the ground up.

About the Divisions:
We are now looking for a Team assistant to our Neutron Scattering Systems (NSS) Division. The NSS Division is responsible for the construction and installation of the neutron beam instruments. The scientists, engineers and support staff in NSS work closely with our international scientific in-kind partners to deliver the 15 instruments.
About the role:
In this role, you will be an important player to ensure that the NSS Division team can work efficiently. A large part of your work will involve interacting with NSS staff, our in-kind partners from all accross Europe, other administrative assistants in the Technical Directorate as well as other parts of ESS. Is this role, no two days will be the same. One day you could be making travel and accommodation arrangement or arrange meetings for NSS staff or external visitors, the next day you could be organising external conferences, do site-visits or do updates on the divisions Internal websites - so we need someone who is not intimidated by this responsibility.
About you:
To thrive with us in the NSS Division, you need to be a a highly motivated, proactive and solutions oriented person who enjoys taking initiatives and anticipating needs as required to take ownership of the work. To have an open-minded and flexible mindset and to be well organized, service minded and to take pride in meeting deadlines is crucial for this position. You will need to be prepared to take on the accountability to the team members requesting assistance, and for providing the necessary support within the timelines provided.
We truly believe that you possess excellent writing, organization and interpersonal communication skills, along with a natural way of handling cultural diversity. The work environment is characterised by fast-pace of work, you must therefore enjoy the diversity of such an environment and have a personality suited for the challenges it presents. In addition, proficient computer skills, good knowledge and experience from MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook) and prior experience from working with service management and/or administration is a requirement. Experience of working in an international environment would be a real advantage.
We're looking for a real team player: Someone who is sociable with excellent communication skills, who likes to collaborate with different people. Establishing good relationships comes natural to you and you are happy to give support and care for others.
The working language of ESS is English so excellent English skills is a requirement but it would be great if you could work in Swedish as well.
For this role, we need someone who can start as soon as possible!
Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probation period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.
