Nuclear Operations Technician

Core mission
You will join one of the six shift teams in the ILL's Operations Service responsible for reactor operations (each team comprises a shift leader and four operations technicians). As one of the team's operations technicians, you will work under the supervision of the team leader (shift leader).

Your tasks
-Monitor the state of the installations and systems and their compliance with operational limits and conditions (technical specifications for operation)
-Diagnose any faults and identify the corrective action to be taken
-Ensure the safe shutdown of the reactor installations to allow for maintenance operations
-Prepare and conduct periodic inspections as well as tests prior to reactor start-up
-Prepare and maintain operational documentation (procedures, instructions, etc.)
-Design and carry out modifications to improve operating conditions
-You will be required to work round-the-clock shifts on a rota basis (2 x 12h).

Your profile
-Level 4/5 qualification (BTEC HNC/HND or equivalent) in a relevant field such as industrial engineering and maintenance, mechanical and thermal engineering or mechanical and production engineering, with at least two to three years' experience in an industrial setting.
-Practical experience of operations in a high-risk industrial environment would be an advantage.
-You are a well-organised self-starter with good writing skills.
-You are able to work both alone and in a team, have a strong service-oriented attitude, and are able to take initiative while complying with regulatory requirements.
-A diplomatic and flexible attitude and the ability to work collaboratively would also be assets for this position.
-You have a meticulous approach to your work, possess sound judgement and are able to work under stress.
-This post requires the ability to speak French. As the ILL is an international facility, you must also be able to communicate in English. Knowledge of German would be an advantage.
