The Infrastructure Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Coordinator.
Description of directorate/division
The Conventional Facilities (CF) division is responsible for the planning, design and construction of all buildings and installations required for operation of the accelerator, target and instruments.
CF works also include site and infrastructure preparation, construction support, all facility buildings, user and general service buildings.
Description of main responsibilities
ESS is looking for an OHS Coordinator for the construction phase of ESS. The aim for the ESS project is to have a collaboration contract, which means that part of the project management will come from the contractor and part will come from ESS. The OHS Coordinator will mainly be positioned in the collaboration organisation but will also support other functions within the project with OHS expertise. Furthermore, the position may entail coordination of OHS aspects in the machine construction works. The successful candidate has both theoretical and practical knowledge.
The main tasks include:
• Contributing to the construction team with OHS expertise and support
• Continuous coordination of the OHS-related work on site and function as a coordinating BAS-U (work performance coordinator for the construction work environment) for the different area- BAS-U´s; this role entails defining and managing BAS-U-areas the interfaces between them
• Assist in implementing the CF OHS strategy in the construction team
• Transferring information from other functions within the project, mainly from the CF design team and the central Safety Health Environment (SHE) function
• The position may entail coordination of OHS aspects in the CF design works as well as coordination of OHS aspects in the machine construction works
Technical competencies:
• MSc or BSc in relevant field of expertise or high school/yrkesskola and continuous training
• Experience from working with OHS aspects in construction projects
• Specific competence in OHS legislation and OHS-related work in the construction industry; either through education or through experience
• Experience of working in an international environment is essential
• Excellent English and Swedish skills, both oral and written
• Leadership qualities as well as team-member qualities
• Preferably certified Bas-U
